What Is a Standard Pallet?
In North America, the standard pallet is the 48″ x 40″ GMA stringer pallet — by far the most widely used pallet size in the US. It’s the baseline specification for the grocery, food and beverage, retail, and general manufacturing industries, and it’s compatible with the vast majority of racking systems, conveyors, and material handling equipment in use today.
Standard pallets are built with three parallel stringers (the boards that run lengthwise and support the load) and a series of deck boards fastened across the top and bottom. They’re designed for two-way or four-way forklift and pallet jack entry depending on the stringer notch configuration.
